Basketball Recap: Erica Lawson's Big Game Can't Quite Lead American History over Weehawken

American History was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a 42-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Weehawken Indians. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 23-16 to them when the teams met back in January of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

American History's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erica Lawson, who posted seven points and six rebounds. Lawson is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 15 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Dominique Jackson, who had five points and 12 boards.

Even though they lost, American History smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in five consecutive matchups.

American History's loss dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Weehawken, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-8.

American History wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 56-41 defeat against West Caldwell Tech on the 8th. As for Weehawken, they will take on Ridgefield Memorial at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
