Baseball Recap: Eastern Beats Blue River Valley for Their Eighth Straight Victory

Eastern barely beat Blue River Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Comets were the clear victors by a 12-0 margin over the Vikings on Saturday. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won nine games by six runs or more so far this season.

Perry Kochensparger was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted over his last 11 matchups. The team also got some help courtesy of Bently Hullinger, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.

Eastern always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Blue River Valley only posted an OBP of .067.

The win (which was Eastern's eighth in a row) raised their record to 12-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.6 runs over those games. As for Blue River Valley, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern will square off against Delphi Community at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Blue River Valley, they will challenge Tri at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.33 runs per game on average), something the Vikings will no doubt try to take advantage of.
