Softball Recap: Pocono Mountain West Takes a Loss

Pocono Mountain West was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They fell 12-8 to the Lehighton Indians. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Panthers of the 17-5 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in March of 2023.

Chloe Straub made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Rider, who went 3-for-4 with one RBI.

Pocono Mountain West's defeat dropped their record down to 2-7. As for Lehighton, their victory ended an eight-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-7.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pocono Mountain West will challenge Nazareth Area at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Eagles will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Lehighton, they will square off against Palisades at 3:30 p.m. on Monday.
