East's loss ends three-game winning streak on the road

The East Panthers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fourth straight loss. They lost to Health Sciences Charter on the road by a decisive 72-53 margin. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for East in their matchups with Health Sciences Charter: they've now lost six in a row.

East's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jussean Pearsall, who scored 20 points along with two steals. That was a full 37.7% of East's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Mysean Morrison was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Health Sciences Charter found their leader in underclassman Amir Moye, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and six steals. Moye is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last 11 games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jakari Lott, who scored 12 points.

East's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 4-13. As for Health Sciences Charter, the win (which was their tenth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East will challenge Hutchinson-Central Tech at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. East will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps New York Rankings (they are ranked 732nd, while Hutchinson-Central Tech is ranked 308th). As for Health Sciences Charter, they will head out on the road to face off against South Park at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Health Sciences Charter has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 766 points over their last ten contests.
