Baseball Recap: Sto-Rox Takes a Loss

Sto-Rox extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 20 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They came up short against the Mohawk Area Warriors, falling 19-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 17-0 on Tuesday.

As for Mohawk Area, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games.

For Mohawk Area's part, Vinny Pezzuolo made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Those eight strikeouts gave Pezzuolo a new career-high. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run.

In other batting news, Mohawk Area let Cash Stratton and Jackson Peters run wild. Stratton went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple, while Peters went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Stratton has become a key player for Mohawk Area: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three RBI, but 4-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kamren O'Lare, who went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sto-Rox will welcome Quaker Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Mohawk Area, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Shenango at 4:30 p.m. on Friday.
