Volleyball Recap: Shelton Takes Down Ranked Xavier

Shelton faced Xavier in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Gaels blew past the Falcons 3-0. The Gaels haven't had any issues with the Falcons recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

The victory didn't come easy: Xavier scored at least 19 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 26-24, 25-19.

Shelton's offense was headlined by Dominic Durante and Cooper Bacca, who picked up 15 kills apiece. They got some help from Matthew Reilly and his 32 assists. Finally, he was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Shelton's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-3. As for Xavier, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-10.

As for Xavier, they will head out to face off against Hand at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Falcons are facing the Tigers at the right time seeing as the Tigers are stuck on a 12-game losing streak.
