Volleyball Recap: Allen East Comes Up Short

Allen East came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 3-0 to the Bluffton Pirates. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mustangs of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

The match finished with set scores of 25-17, 25-9, 25-21.

Brynna Contris paced Allen East's offense, picking up six kills. Contris got some help from Ella Downing and her six assists. Contris was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Allen East dropped their record down to 2-6 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. As for Bluffton, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Allen East is set to take on their familiar foe Lincolnview at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Bluffton will challenge rival Jefferson at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
