League recap: Salisbury climbs in state rankings with win

Salisbury moved up to 118 from 164 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A Central Carolina. A 68-28 win over Carson helped the Hornets improve their standing.

Central Davidson was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to third in the league. The Spartans beat Bartlett Yancey 49-8 earlier in the week.

West Davidson's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Austin Teague threw for 13 and one touchdown and Zach Queen had 24 yards receiving. On the ground Kyle Smith chipped in 101 yards.

West Davidson's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Dragons feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Jordan Heitman has thrown for 275 yards and one touchdown this season, while Queen has nine catches for 163 yards. Smith leads the league in rushing with 647 yards.

The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Dragons take on Salisbury. West Davidson has allowed 71 points this season, while Joe Pinyan's team has given up 93. Dale Barnes's team allowed 25 points last week as it fell to Randleman.
