Monsignor Martin recap October 8, 2013

St. Francis moved up to 144 from 175 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in Monsignor Martin. The Red Raiders climbed the ranks as a result of losing to St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute 27-20.

Bishop Timon-St. Jude was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from sixth to fourth in the league. Earlier in the week, the Tigers triumphed over Cardinal O'Hara 50-21.

Canisius's dynamic duo of Zach Liberatore and De'Anthony Simpson proved tough for St. Mary's to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Liberatore threw for 189 yards and 3 touchdowns and Simpson had 131 yards receiving. Ryan Richards helped Canisius' passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 65 yards.

He went 8-8 with 0 interceptions.

St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Marauders feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Mike McCarthy has thrown for 562 yards and 4 touchdowns this season, while Justin Jones has 8 catches for 228 yards.

As it stands, the Crusaders are in second, while Bishop Timon-St. Jude is in fourth.

Canisius led the league in scoring this week after putting up 51 points on the Lancers. Liberatore ran for 15 yards in the win.
