Softball Recap: Uxbridge Victorious

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Tuesday as neither Uxbridge nor Shrewsbury made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Spartans walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Colonials. That's more bragging rights for the Spartans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Erin O'Day made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one RBI. Those three doubles gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Lola Grube was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played.

Uxbridge's win bumped their record up to 18-1. As for Shrewsbury, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 8-8 record.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Uxbridge will challenge Blackstone Valley RVT at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Shrewsbury, they will take on Franklin at 3:30 p.m. on the 28th.
