Softball Game Preview: Ottumwa Bulldogs vs. Marshalltown Bobcats

Ottumwa has gone 8-1 against Marshalltown recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will challenge the Bobcats at 5:00 p.m. Ottumwa's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Marshalltown's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Ottumwa easily dispatched Des Moines North on Monday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. Ottumwa fell just short of Van Meter by a score of 8-6 on Tuesday. Ottumwa's loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Meanwhile, Marshalltown made easy work of Lincoln on Monday and carried off an 11-3 victory. The result was nothing new for the Bobcats, who have now won four games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Ottumwa's defeat dropped their record down to 8-5. As for Marshalltown, their win bumped their record up to 4-7.

Ottumwa came out on top in a nail-biter against Marshalltown when the teams last played back in June of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. Will the Bulldogs repeat their success, or do the Bobcats have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
