Fike hasn't had much luck against East Wake recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. Fike is taking a road trip to challenge East Wake at 4:00 p.m.
Fike lost 8-2 to Northern Nash on Monday. The Demons have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Gracie Vincent was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. On the mound, she struck out six batters over six innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. Vincent was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season.

Vincent wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Leyla Lopez, who went 1-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI. Lopez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played.
Even though they lost, Fike hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, East Wake got the win against Hunt on Friday by a conclusive 16-3. The result was nothing new for East Wake, who have now won five matchups by 13 runs or more so far this season.
Like Fike, East Wake also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaimee Fowler. She struck out six batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Fowler was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, Madison Smith was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. Another player making a difference was Alissa Flood, who went 3-for-5 with three runs, two doubles, and one triple.
Fike's defeat dropped their record down to 1-8. As for East Wake, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Fike suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to East Wake in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can Fike avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
