Carver takes loss despite strong efforts from Aiden Jones and Tony Montgomery

Recap: Carver Tigers vs. Monroe Golden Tornadoes

After a string of 16 wins, the Carver Tigers's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 90-71 fall against Monroe. Carver has struggled against Monroe recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Carver had strong showings from Tony Montgomery, who scored 19 points along with three steals, and Aiden Jones, who scored 15 points. That's the first time this season that Jones scored 15 or more points. Jakiem Richardson was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Lorenzo Still was his usual excellent self, scoring 22 points along with five assists and two steals for Monroe. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Burns, who scored 14 points along with eight rebounds and two blocks.

Carver's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-1. As for Monroe, their victory bumped their record up to 15-3.

Carver will head out on the road to take on Dougherty at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Dougherty is ranked 60th, while Carver is ranked 45th). As for Monroe, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Columbus at 7:30 p.m.
