Football Recap: Chequamegon/Butternut/Mercer Takes a Loss

Chequamegon/Butternut/Mercer was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 22-18 heartbreaker at the hands of the Lake Holcombe Chieftains.

Despite the loss, Chequamegon/Butternut/Mercer still got an impressive performance from Marcus Purdy, who picked up 216 receiving yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 30 yards. Purdy's longest reception was for an incredible 72 yards. Another player making a difference was Antonio Poetzl, who threw for 227 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only 19 passes.

Lake Holcombe was led to victory by Emmit Johnson and Koy Johnson. Emmit rushed for 86 yards and one score, while Koy rushed for 55 yards and one TD. That's the most rushing yards Emmit has posted since back in August.

Chequamegon/Butternut/Mercer's loss dropped their record down to 2-6. As for Lake Holcombe, with the win, they broke their seven-game losing streak and moved their record to 2-7.

As of now, neither Chequamegon/Butternut/Mercer nor Lake Holcombe have any future games scheduled.
