Basketball Recap: Roy Beats Bonneville for Their Third Straight Win

Roy hadn't done well against Bonneville recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Roy Royals came out on top against the Bonneville Lakers by a score of 49-38. Winning may never get old, but the Royals sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Roy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Colby Frokjer out in front who went 5 of 10 en route to 19 points and seven rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Frokjer has scored at least a third of Roy's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jesse Jones, who posted 11 points and five boards.

When it comes to explaining why Bonneville lost, don't look at Ben Tesch. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 18 points and 15 rebounds. Tesch is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in the last four games he's played. Davis Degroot was another key player, going 5 for 9 on his way to 10 points.

Roy's record now sits at 6-13. As for Bonneville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-11.

Roy will be playing in front of their home fans against Clearfield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Roy is facing Clearfield at the right time seeing as Clearfield is stuck on a 14-game losing streak. As for Bonneville, they will head out to challenge Bountiful at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bountiful knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 19 matchups -- so hopefully Bonneville likes a good challenge.
