Football Recap: Meadville Comes Up Short at Home Against Fort Leboeuf

Meadville unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a 29-22 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Fort LeBoeuf Bison on Friday. The Bulldogs were right on the edge of victory: they outscored the Bison in the fourth quarter 8-0.

Tymir Phillips and Jordan Lawrence certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Phillips picked up 84 receiving yards and two TDs, while Lawrence rushed for 134 yards. Phillips also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making two total tackles (1.0 for loss) and defending one pass.

Even if they lost, Meadville's defense still kept up the pressure with three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Dane Moody, Lhanden Davis, and Caleb Kelly, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Skyler Sadowski was nothing short of spectacular for Fort LeBoeuf: he rushed for 131 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries. Sadowski's longest rush was for an impressive 61 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Fort LeBoeuf also got a significant boost from Dominic Walters, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 99 yards.

Looking ahead, Meadville will welcome Connellsville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Fort LeBoeuf, they will head out to face off against Farrell at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
