Baseball Game Preview: Spokane Owls vs. Sarcoxie Bears

The Spokane Owls are taking a road trip to take on the Sarcoxie Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Spokane took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They never let Greenwood get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. The Owls' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Kash Burk was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Rantz, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Spokane always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Sarcoxie and Lockwood meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Tuesday. The Bears blew past the Tigers 7-0. That seven-run margin sets a new team best for the Bears this season.

Spokane pushed their record up to 6-5 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Sarcoxie, their win bumped their record up to 5-6.

Spokane got the 'W' when the teams last played back in March of 2025 against Sarcoxie by a conclusive 23-14 score. Will the Owls repeat their success, or do the Bears have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
