Preview: Fieldcrest Knights vs. LeRoy Panthers
The Fieldcrest Knights will head out on the road to face off against the LeRoy Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. LeRoy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Fieldcrest, who comes in off a win.
Fieldcrest fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. Everything went their way against Marquette Catholic on Saturday as Fieldcrest made off with a 38-12 win. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 30-0.
It was another big night for Eddie Lorton, who rushed for 135 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Lucas Anson got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Meanwhile, after a string of seven wins, LeRoy's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley by a score of 8-6. Having soared to a lofty 40 points in the game before, LeRoy couldn't push the score so high this time.
Fieldcrest's victory on Saturday bumped their record up to 4-4. Having lost for the first time this season, LeRoy fell to 7-1.
Fieldcrest lost to LeRoy on the road by a decisive 33-14 margin when the teams last played back in September of 2022. Can Fieldcrest avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
