Although the 2017-18 Nebraska boys basketball season is just getting under way, a trio of the Cornhusker State's top talents are playing at a very high level already.

Quincy Nichols of Blair, Brady's Colton Lovitt and Nate Thayer of Platteview have all posted triple-doubles through the first four weeks of the season, and several others have come close.

Just three steals from a quadruple-double, Nichols' 22 point, 10 rebound, 10 assist, seven steal and one blocked shot performance in Blair's 63-50 triumph over Ralston on Dec. 2 earned the nod as the top performance to date in the Cornhusker State. Lovitt posted 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals in a 71-31 Dec. 18 win over Stapleton to edge out Thayer for the No. 2 spot.

Noah Schutte of Laurel-Concord-Coleridge and Pender's Sam Mailloux round out the Top 5. Mailloux was rewarded for his 19 point, 22 rebound, 6 assist and 6 blocked shot outing against Stanton Dec. 16. However, the 6-5 junior nearly pulled off a triple-double himself when he put up 17 points, 15 rebounds and 9 blocked shots in a 55-40 win over Allen Dec. 11.

It should be noted too that Platteview nearly had a pair of triple-doubles in its victory over Boys Town. Not to be out done by Thayer's hot hand in that contest, Brady Heiman ripped the cords for 17 points, pulled down 16 boards and blocked eight shots to go along with 4 assists.

Classes B, C1, C2, D1 and D2 are all represented in this week's Top 10. But plenty of athletes in Class A performed at a high level as well. Lincoln Southeast senior Jack Strong's 18 point, 10 rebound, 5 assist and 2 steal outing in a 57-56 loss to Bellevue East Nov. 30 gets the nod as the Cornhusker State's best big school performance.

This week's Top 10 takes a look at those athletes that performed at a high level in more than one category. In order to be eligible, a player had to achieve at least a double-double and then post at least five of something in one or more other categories (i.e. 25 points, 6 rebounds and 11 blocked shots). The stats used for this week's Top 10 were pulled from MaxPreps' stat database Wednesday evening for games played through Tuesday, Dec. 26.
