Basketball Game Preview: Millard West Wildcats vs. Elkhorn South Storm

The Millard West Wildcats will head out on the road to square off against the Elkhorn South Storm at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

On Friday, Millard West lost to Millard South on the road by a 74-58 margin. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 74th, while the Patriots are ranked 16th).

Meanwhile, Elkhorn South suffered their closest defeat since December 7, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Pius X by a score of 61-58. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Tuesday (55), the Storm still had to take the loss.

Millard West will have to contain Lincoln Schwarz as he made an impact in Elkhorn South's last game. He went 9 of 16 en route to 21 points. With that strong performance, Schwarz is now averaging an impressive 15.2 points per game. Sam Vander Linden was another key player, putting up eight points.

Elkhorn South moved to 4-10 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Millard West, they dropped their record down to 5-8 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Millard West strolled past Elkhorn South in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 by a score of 65-50. Will Millard West repeat their success, or does Elkhorn South have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
