Basketball Recap: Springville Takes a Loss

Springville lost against Timpview two weeks ago and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Springville Red Devils fell 58-50 to the Timpview Thunderbirds.

Despite the loss, Springville still got an impressive performance from Natalie Florence, who went 7 of 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 27 points. Those 27 points gave Florence a new career-high.

Even though they lost, Springville was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Timpview only racked up eight assists.

Timpview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Lina Ballin led the charge by going 6 for 10 en route to 16 points and six steals. Ballin is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. Tasi Galeai was another key player, going 6 of 8 on her way to 15 points.

Springville's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Timpview, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 10-6.

Springville will challenge Wasatch at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Wasatch is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51.9 points per game this season. As for Timpview, they will square off against Salem Hills at 5:15 p.m. on Friday. Salem Hills will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something Timpview surely won't give up without a fight.
