Baseball Recap: Western Harnett Has No Trouble Against Westover

Western Harnett won the last time they faced Westover and things went their way on Wednesday too. The Eagles were the clear victors by a 12-2 margin over the Wolverines. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Ethan Mazurowski was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-2. He has become a key player for Western Harnett: the team is 2-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 2-11 otherwise.

In other batting news, Bryson Pope was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 3-for-4. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Jackson Adams also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Western Harnett was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .565. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Western Harnett's record now sits at 4-12. As for Westover, their loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 0-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Western Harnett will square off against E.E. Smith at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Eagles are facing the Golden Bulls at the right time seeing as the Golden Bulls are stuck on a 12-game losing streak. As for Westover, they will face off against Terry Sanford at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Bulldogs will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something the Wolverines surely won't give up without a fight.
