Cardinal Newman extended their winning streak (dating back to last season) to nine on Saturday, bumping them up to 4-0. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the River Bluff Gators. The Cardinals have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Gators, too.

Leila Hargrove paced Cardinal Newman's offense, picking up nine kills. Hargrove got some help from Lauren Rivers and her 25 assists. Khylie Remmenga controlled things from the service line, finishing with two aces.

Having lost for the first time this season, River Bluff fell to 4-1. The loss put an end to their undefeated start to the season.

When it comes to explaining why River Bluff lost, don't look at Caroline Brownlee. Despite the final result, she had 12 digs and one assist. Brownlee is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Cardinal Newman wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 2-1 loss against Oceanside Collegiate Academy on the 16th. As for River Bluff, they have also already played their next matchup, a 2-0 defeat against Marvin Ridge on the 16th.
