Soccer Game Preview: Genoa-Kingston vs. Rockford Christian

The Genoa-Kingston Cogs will face off against the Rockford Christian Royal Lions at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Genoa-Kingston is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.

Last Tuesday, Genoa-Kingston came up short against Harvest-Westminster and fell 5-3. While losing is never fun, Genoa-Kingston can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while Harvest-Westminster are ranked 159th).

Ayden Hernandez and Chris Fuentes scored all three of Genoa-Kingston's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 17 goals.

Meanwhile, for the first time this season, Rockford Christian was forced to settle for a draw. They and St. Bede finished up on equal footing with a 2-2 draw on October 2nd.

With that draw, Rockford Christian's record moves to 2-9-1. As for Genoa-Kingston, their loss dropped their record down to 10-13.

Genoa-Kingston took their victory against Rockford Christian in their previous meeting back in September by a conclusive 4-1 score. Will the Cogs repeat their success, or do the Royal Lions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
