Football Game Preview: Woodville Eagles vs. Warren Warriors

Woodville is a perfect 6-0 against Warren since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Eagles will square off against the Warriors at 7:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Woodville has four straight victories, Warren has 11 straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Woodville is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They really took it to Trinity for the full four quarters, racking up a 68-35 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Eagles' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 310th, while the Tigers are ranked 961st).

Luke Babin was his usual excellent self, throwing for 365 yards and eight TDs while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt, and also rushing for 48 yards. Thanks to that big game, he is now up to 19 passing touchdowns on the season. Tanner Ledoux was Babin's top target, picking up 103 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Warren's offense. The game between the Warriors and New Waverly didn't end well, with the Warriors falling 14-0. Having soared to a lofty 35 points in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Woodville's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Warren, their loss dropped their record down to 0-4.

Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Woodville has been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 428 total yards per game. It's a different story for Warren, though, as they've been averaging only 180 total yards. Will Woodville be able to march up the field at their leisure again, or will the Warriors flip the script?

Everything came up roses for Woodville against Warren when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 58-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
