Venice has gone 9-1 against North Port recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Venice Indians will face off against the North Port Bobcats at 7:00 p.m. Venice is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.
Venice will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Lakewood Ranch, who they had gone 1-7 against in their eight prior meetings. Venice had just enough and edged out Lakewood Ranch 3-2.
Jayde Neptune spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk any time she's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Raionna Smith, who went 3-for-4 with one double and one RBI. That RBI marked the first that she brought in this season.
Meanwhile, while it was North Port who put the first points on the board on Thursday, it was Charlotte who put up more. North Port lost 9-1 to Charlotte. The defeat continues a trend for the Bobcats in their matchups with the Fightin' Tarpons: they've now lost three in a row.
Kaitlin Kohlenberg made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
Venice pushed their record up to 3-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for North Port, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
North Port's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Venice hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. It's a different story for North Port, though, as they've only averaged .244. Will they be able to contain Venice's hitters?
Venice was able to grind out a solid win over North Port in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 3-0. Does Venice have another victory up their sleeve, or will North Port turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
