Softball Game Preview: Owen J. Roberts Wildcats vs. Upper Perkiomen Indians

The Owen J. Roberts Wildcats will face off against the Upper Perkiomen Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Friday just wasn't the day for Owen J. Roberts' offense. They fell just short of Avon Grove by a score of 1-0 on Friday. The shutout was out of character for the Wildcats seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Maddie Reed spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

Meanwhile, Upper Perkiomen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 11-0 to Spring-Ford.

Owen J. Roberts' defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-5. As for Upper Perkiomen, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.

Upper Perkiomen's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Monday. Owen J. Roberts has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Upper Perkiomen, though, as they've been averaging only 3.2 strikeouts. Will Owen J. Roberts keep running through batters, or will the Indians buck the trend?

Everything went Owen J. Roberts' way against Upper Perkiomen in their previous meeting back in April, as Owen J. Roberts made off with a 10-0 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Indians turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
