Basketball Recap: Make It Four in a Row for IDEA Edinburg College Prep

IDEA Edinburg College Prep hadn't done well against Monte Alto recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. IDEA Edinburg College Prep walked away with a 63-54 victory over the Monte Alto Blue Devil. The win was nothing new for IDEA Edinburg College Prep as they're now sitting on four straight.

IDEA Edinburg College Prep's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Emmanuel Zuniga led the charge by dropping a double-double on 19 points and ten boards. Those ten boards gave Zuniga a new career-high. Another player making a difference was MIchael Meza, who went 7 of 12 on his way to 14 points and eight rebounds.

IDEA Edinburg College Prep smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Monte Alto lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ricky Serrano, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 22 points. That was a full 40.7% of Monte Alto's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Drago Hernandez, who put up 13 points and five steals.

IDEA Edinburg College Prep pushed their record up to 14-8 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.5 points per game. As for Monte Alto, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.

IDEA Edinburg College Prep didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 33-29 win against Vanguard Academy Beethoven on the 10th. As for Monte Alto, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 64-46 defeat against Vanguard Academy Rembrandt on the 10th.
