Preview: Riverside Christian Academy Royals vs. Pine Forest Trojans
The Riverside Christian Academy Royals on the road again on Saturday and play against the Pine Forest Trojans at 2:30 p.m. on January 13th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
In what's become a running theme this season, Riverside Christian Academy gave their fans yet another huge victory on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 70-2 win over Ascend Leadership on the road. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 51-0.
Riverside Christian Academy found their leader in underclassman Paris Autry, who dropped a double-double on 30 points and 12 steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Autry has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabriella Frank, who scored ten points along with six assists and six steals.
Meanwhile, Pine Forest had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They walked away with a 50-43 win over Triton on Thursday.
Chloe Wilson was the offensive standout of the matchup as she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 14 rebounds. That's the first time this season that she scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Janaea Conley, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Riverside Christian Academy's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-0. As for Pine Forest, the win got them back to even at 6-6.
Saturday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Riverside Christian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 33.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Pine Forest, though, as they've been averaging only 30.3 rebounds per game. Given Riverside Christian Academy's sizeable advantage in that area, Pine Forest will need to find a way to close that gap.
