Softball Recap: Winn Takes a Loss

Winn was the 5-1 winner over Jay when they last played one another back in March, but their luck changed this time around. The Mavericks took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs on Thursday. The Mavericks' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Winn saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Amaddis Avila, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI. Kiara Garcia also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Winn's record is now 4-19. As for Jay, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-15.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Winn will face off against rival Southside at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Jay is set to take on their familiar foe Southwest Legacy at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
