Softball Recap: Galax Comes Up Short

Galax was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 18-7 to the Rural Retreat Indians, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Hylee Holt made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Lauren Bouchard, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, two RBI, and one run.

Galax's defeat dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Rural Retreat, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 8-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Galax will venture away from home to face off against Carroll County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Rural Retreat, they will head out to square off against Honaker at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Indians' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
