Baseball Recap: Elko Has No Trouble Against Dayton

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Churchill County, Elko was happy to have turned things around on Friday. Everything went their way against the Dayton Dust Devils as they made off with a 9-3 victory. The win continues a trend for the Indians in their matchups with the Dust Devils: they've now won seven in a row.

Ethan Kraintz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carter Kidwell, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Coy Jones also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Elko was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. They are 6-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Elko's victory bumped their record up to 13-11. As for Dayton, they dropped their record down to 8-12 with the loss, which was their fifth straight on the road.

Elko will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Dust Devils: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
