Baseball Preview: Del Mar Dons vs. Lincoln Lions

Del Mar is 1-9 against Lincoln since April of 2015 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Del Mar Dons will be playing in front of their home fans against the Lincoln Lions at 4:00 p.m.

Last Friday, Del Mar came up short against Evergreen Valley and fell 5-2. Del Mar has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Even though they lost, Del Mar didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and finished the game with 14 strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Evergreen Valley only tossed four.

Meanwhile, Lincoln waltzed into their contest on Friday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Pirates. Lincoln's victory was all the more impressive since Piedmont Hills was averaging only 3.32 runs allowed on the season.

The team relied heavily on Lorenzo Collazo, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Ryan Bernwanger, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Del Mar's loss dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Lincoln, they pushed their record up to 18-3 with that win, which was their fifth straight at home.
