Softball Recap: Casa Roble Triumphs

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Destiny Christian Academy, Casa Roble was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They came out on top against the Rio Linda Knights by a score of 5-2. This was a revenge game for the Rams: when they faced off against the Knights back in March, they had to take a 6-2 defeat.

Cassandra Alvarez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Bailey Richards, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Carlee Hanes also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

Casa Roble was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rio Linda only posted a batting average of .222.

Casa Roble has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-7 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Rio Linda, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 15-7.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Casa Roble will challenge rival El Camino at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Rio Linda is set to square off against their familiar foe Destiny Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
