Softball Recap: Dwight Trojans vs. El Paso-Gridley Titans
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Wilmington, Dwight was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They put the hurt on the El Paso-Gridley Titans with a sharp 12-2 victory. The high-scoring effort was just what the Trojans needed considering they were shut out in their previous match.
Madi Ely was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out 13 over five innings pitched. Ely was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, three RBI, and two runs. Those doubles marked the first that she hit this season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Averi Jury, who fired off two home runs, four runs, and four RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most home runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Miranda Bovelle also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.
Dwight always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .656. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as El Paso-Gridley only posted an OBP of .286.
