Baseball Recap: Village Christian Academy Find Success

Village Christian Academy's tournament run continued when they took on Seventy-First on Monday. The Knights narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Falcons 5-4.

Sean Nicely made a big impact no matter where he played. He pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two runs. Village Christian Academy is undefeated when Nicely posts two or more runs, but 5-7 otherwise.

Nicely wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Snyder, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. Those two stolen bases gave Snyder a new career-high. Lucas Molina also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Village Christian Academy's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Seventy-First, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 12 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season.

Village Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Seventy-First, they will challenge Purnell Swett at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
