The Cascade Cougars will face off against the Lebanon Warriors at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Cascade has five straight victories, Lebanon has seven straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Cascade is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Junction City on Thursday as they made off with a 21-4 win. Considering the Cougars have won four matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Taylor Bays was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 1-for-5. That hit marked the first that she got this season.
In other batting news, Cassidy Crabtree was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, two stolen bases, and five RBI. That home run was her first of the season. Amyah Miranda was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.
Cascade kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Lebanon lost 16-4 to Canby on Tuesday.
Hailey Myers was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Scarlett French, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Cascade pushed their record up to 5-0 with the victory, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.5 runs over those games. As for Lebanon, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-6.
Lebanon's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Cascade has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .470. It's a different story for Lebanon, though, as they've only averaged .337.
