Football Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Geneseo + How To Watch

Geneseo had won two straight games and Kye Weinzierl did his part to make it three on Friday. The Maple Leafs put the hurt on the Sterling Golden Warriors with a sharp 31-10 victory with plenty of help from Weinzierl, who rushed for 115 yards on only 12 carries, and also picked up 86 receiving yards. His longest reception was for an impressive 63 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per catch total.

Jackson McAvoy was another key player, rushing for 28 yards and two touchdowns. He is becoming a predictor of Geneseo's success: when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

Geneseo didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Player #10 and Keaton Ariano.

Geneseo's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Sterling, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Geneseo will welcome Alleman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Maple Leafs are facing the Pioneers at the right time seeing as the Pioneers are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Sterling, they will challenge Quincy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
