Recap: Rivers of Life Christian Eagles vs. Liberty Christian Academy Eagles
The Rivers of Life Christian Eagles lost against the Liberty Christian Academy Eagles back in February, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. Rivers of Life Christian took a serious blow against Liberty Christian Academy, falling 64-23. Rivers of Life Christian was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-10.
Rivers of Life Christian lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Tyler Jepsen, who scored six points.
Liberty Christian Academy was led to victory by Jack Duvel and Willy Mueller. Duvel scored 17 points along with six rebounds and five assists, while Mueller scored 20 points along with nine rebounds. Those five assists set a new season-high mark for him. Another player making a difference was Tommy Meyer, who scored ten points.
Rivers of Life Christian bumped their record down to 1-4 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 27.2 points per game. As for Liberty Christian Academy, the win (which was their sixth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rivers of Life Christian will challenge Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Christian Academy of Greater St. Louis is coming into the matchup on a four-game losing streak. Liberty Christian Academy will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Christian Fellowship at 7:45 p.m. on December 15th. Christian Fellowship is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
