The Sarasota Sailors will look to defend their home field on Friday against the Riverview Sarasota Rams at 7:00 p.m. Sarasota will be strutting in after a victory while Riverview Sarasota will be coming in after a loss.
Sarasota's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Lehigh as Sarasota made off with a 15-0 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Sailors.
Braedon Mackay made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Mackay was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.
In other pitching news, Mason Ondercin looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Mark Metcalf, who scored four runs and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Patrick Drymon was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances.
Sarasota always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .567. The last time their OBP was this high was back in February of 2024.
Meanwhile, Riverview Sarasota unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against Palmetto on Tuesday, falling 8-0.
Riverview Sarasota also got a good showing from Cole Gibson, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits.
On the hitting side, Riverview Sarasota saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Caiden Cabral, who went 1-for-2 with one double.
