Softball Recap: Rio Mesa Spartans vs. Kennedy Fighting Irish

With a playoff game on the line, Rio Mesa rose to the challenge on Thursday. They never let the Kennedy Fighting Irish onto the board and left with a 10-0 win. Rio Mesa might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won 14 contests by six runs or more this season.

Kennedy's batters probably weren't too happy with Jasmine Reyes, who pitched a no hitter and racked up eight Ks (she gave up three walks). Reyes has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in 17 consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, Jaslene Rios was excellent, scoring a run while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Olivera, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Rio Mesa is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 23-5 record this season. As for Kennedy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-14.
