Softball Recap: Connersville Now 19-3 over Last 22 Games

Connersville got themselves on the board against Rushville on Friday, but Rushville never followed suit. They didn't even let the Lions on the board, marking their second-straight 10-0 shutout. Considering the Spartans have won 11 matchups by more than nine runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Jade Green made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over six innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two runs.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kourtni Carpenter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Taylynn Selby was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs.

Connersville hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least three batters in four consecutive games.

Connersville is on a roll lately: they've won 19 of their last 22 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-9 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Rushville, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-17.

Looking ahead, Connersville will be playing in front of their home fans against Greensburg at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Rushville, they will square off against Roncalli at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. The Royals' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so the Lions' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
