Softball Recap: Tustin Finds Home Field Redemption Against Costa Mesa

There's no place like home for Tustin, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They came out on top against the Costa Mesa Mustangs by a score of 6-3 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Tillers also won the last time the pair played back in March of 2015.

Emery Diaz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Samantha Reyes was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Bella Fernandez also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.

Tustin's win bumped their record up to 4-2. As for Costa Mesa, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-13.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Tustin will take on Westminster at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. The Lions will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last. As for Costa Mesa, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Estancia at 3:15 p.m. on the 14th.
