Basketball Game Preview: Williams Academy Falcons vs. Bethel Christian Academy Crusaders

Williams Academy is 0-3 against Bethel Christian Academy since November of 2016 but things could change on Friday. The Falcons will look to take advantage of their home court for the first time this season as they take on the Crusaders at 5:00 p.m.

Williams Academy is coming home looking for redemption after taking a loss in their road opener. They took a blow against NCSSM: Morganton last Wednesday, falling 81-2. The Falcons were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-1.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Bethel Christian Academy). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 63-61 victory over Mount Pisgah Academy on Thursday. The score was all tied up 27-27 at the break, but the Crusaders were the better team in the second half.

Bethel Christian Academy's win came from a few key players Williams Academy will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Logan Hughes, who shot 56% from the field on his way to 22 points and three steals. Another player making a difference was Aiden Phillips, who went 6-for-14 to rack up 18 points and five rebounds.

Williams Academy ended up a good deal behind Bethel Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in March of 2017, losing 74-56. Can the Falcons avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
