Baseball Recap: North Catholic Beats Hopewell for Their Third Straight Win

North Catholic hadn't done well against Hopewell recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Trojans walked away with a 5-1 win over the Vikings. For the Trojans, this counts as revenge for the 6-2 victory the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in May of 2023.

Caden Williams looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, North Catholic saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jake McKee, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Landon Roedler also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

The win (which was North Catholic's third in a row) raised their record to 5-1. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Hopewell, their loss was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 1-7.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Vikings beat North Catholic by a score of 8-4 on Tuesday.
