Preview: Burns Broncs vs. Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers
The Burns Broncs will head out on the road to face off against the Lingle-Fort Laramie Doggers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Burns has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Burns scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They strolled past Pine Bluffs with points to spare, taking the game 51-34.
Burns' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Griess, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. That's the first time this season that Griess scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Kopetzky, who scored ten points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Lingle-Fort Laramie came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 55-42 win over Morrill. Given Lingle-Fort Laramie's advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 21st in Wyoming, while Morrill is ranked 128th in Nebraska), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Burns' win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 7-8. As for Lingle-Fort Laramie, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-4.
Burns beat Lingle-Fort Laramie 48-36 in their previous matchup back in March of 2023. Does Burns have another victory up their sleeve, or will Lingle-Fort Laramie turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
