Preview: Genesee Bulldogs vs. Troy Trojans
Genesee and Troy are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2020, but not for long. The Genesee Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Troy Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Genesee has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Genesee pushed their score all the way to 62 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. The match between Genesee and Logos wasn't particularly close, with Genesee falling 79-62. While losing is never fun, Genesee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Idaho basketball rankings (they are ranked 141st, while Logos is ranked 34th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Seth Vestal, who scored 17 points. Teak Wareham was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Meanwhile, Troy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. Their tough 52-27 loss to Potlatch might stick with them for a while. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Troy has scored all season.
Genesee's loss was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-12. As for Troy, they have fallen quite a ways from their 14-7 record last season and are now at 3-6.
Genesee might still be hurting after the 66-40 loss they got from Troy when the teams last played back in December of 2023. Can Genesee avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
