Volleyball Game Preview: Emerald Ridge Jaguars vs. Olympia Bears

Emerald Ridge is 2-8 against Olympia since October of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. After both having extra time off, the two teams will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Olympia will be up against a hot Emerald Ridge team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. Everything went the Jaguars' way against South Kitsap on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 victory.

Emerald Ridge never let South Kitsap on the board, but things got pretty close in the first set. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 25-10, 25-16.

Among those leading the charge was Kaitlynn Matthiesen, who had eight digs and three assists.

Emerald Ridge was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 13 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least seven aces in five consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Olympia made easy work of Sumner on Tuesday and carried off a 3-0 win.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Olympia took every set by at least 11 points. The final score came out to 25-14, 25-13, 25-10.

Olympia's victory bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Emerald Ridge, their win bumped their record up to 17-4-1.

Emerald Ridge beat Olympia 3-1 when the teams last played back in October. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was the Bears' River Sutch, who had 23 digs and three aces. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Jaguars still be able to contain Sutch? There's only one way to find out.
