Grundy County had lost 15 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Sunday they dropped their record down to 1-15 to make it 16. They took a 5-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Cannon County Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 4-1 back in April.

As for Cannon County, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-9. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games.

For Cannon County's part, Kathryn Trail spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits. Trail has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Anna Wood was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of August Morris, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.

While Grundy County had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
