Volleyball Recap: Brad Chier Leads a Balanced Effort to Beat Christian

With a playoff win on the line, Victory Christian Academy rose to the challenge on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Christian Patriots, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since April 19th.

Victory Christian Academy was actually outscored in aggregate across those five sets (101-100), but they still managed to win. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 15-25, 25-22, 25-23, 20-25, 15-6.

Victory Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Brad Chier, who had 22 kills, 16 digs, and seven aces. Chier has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 29 times he's played. Esteban Torres was another key player, getting ten digs and six aces.

They weren't the only good server: Victory Christian Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. That's the most aces they've posted since back in March of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Christian lost, don't look at McKade Mathson. Despite the final result, he had 24 digs and one assist.

The victory made it two in a row for Victory Christian Academy and bumps their season record up to 19-14. As for Christian, with the loss, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 19-13.

Looking ahead, Victory Christian Academy will challenge High Tech Mesa at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Thunder will roll in looking for their eighth straight win, something the Knights surely won't give up without a fight. Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
